Music is a vital component of worship and central to the life of Riverchase United Methodist Church. Our Music Ministry seeks to involve people of all ages, interests, and talents, leading congregants to a deeper worship of God. We believe that all the music we present must be of the highest caliber, diligently prepared, and meaningfully presented as one of our highest offerings to God. We recognize the important role music plays in worship, education, and spiritual growth not only for those who present it, but also for those who listen it.
In the Music Ministry, you will see hard work, you will hear laughter, and you will see smiles; best of all, perhaps, you will see everyday people thrilled at the opportunity to offer their talents to God.
Riverchase offers several options for singers to use their gifts. Our 100-voice Sanctuary Choir provides music for worship services, holy days and seasonal concerts. New members are welcome. Our 30-voice Chamber Choir sings in worship services, as well as works with the orchestra.
Riverchase has three children’s choirs for children ages 4 up to 5th grade. In addition to singing in the traditional, contemporary and special worship services, the children’s choirs present two musical programs each year. Newcomers are welcome. Contact Betty Wilson for more information.
9th grade students to adults who are experienced brass, woodwind, string, and percussion players make up the Riverchase Orchestra. This group performs during select Sunday worship services and special events.
This handbell group is open to adult beginners. The ability to read music is not necessary to participate.
Riverchase Chancel Ringers
This group is an advanced handbell choir for adults, and the ability to read music is required.
Riverchase Music Academy
The Music Academy is designed for people of all ages. We welcome children, teens and adult students, whether they are beginners or experienced. We offer lessons in piano, guitar, voice, percussion, bass and woodwinds, saxophone, and oboe. All of our instructors are degreed musicians.
Lessons are held at Riverchase. Two recitals/performances are held each year, at Christmas and in May. While we highly encourage the recitals, we do not force students to play, particularly our adult students who may not want to perform for a group. Performing by memory is optional.
