Mission Opportunities and Needs

 

New volunteer opportunity  at Urban Ministry/Church Without Walls. This opportunity is great for teachers or others who wish to mentor or tutor children. Contact Wes Savage for more information.

Fall Food Drive: We are collecting canned goods (please no glass) for agencies which serve families in need.  Bring your canned food items to the Welcome Center or place them in the green mission bins around our campus.  We will collect the canned items through Sunday, November 11. 

Riverchase Backpack Ministry: our next food packing night is Wednesday, November 7, at 4:45 PM in the Well (gym). We also need more drivers to pick up or deliver food once per month. Contact Wes Savage for more information.

Operation Christmas Child: Pack shoeboxes filled with toys for children overseas on Wednesday, October 24, at 4:45PM in the Well.  We will serve as a National Collection site for shoeboxes from November 12 - 19.  Families are encouraged to pack shoeboxes together and return them to our Welcome Center during Collection Week.  For more info on how to pack a shoebox, visit: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/pack-a-shoe-box/.

Christian’s Place/Nauvoo: Food distribution is the third Saturday of each month. The next day to serve is October 20, from 10:00 AM to noon. Meet at Nauvoo UMC. 400 3RD ST, NAUVOO, AL 35578.

Lord’s Ladies Street People need soap, socks, water, small wrapped snacks. Lord’s Ladies Prison Ministry needs all occasion cards, stamps, paper, stickers, and bookmarks.  Please place items in a green mission bin, marked “LLM.”

Good Samaritans: Join this group of volunteers who conduct morning worship services at area assisted living facilities every Friday and the fourth Tuesday of each month.  Contact Cecil Reynolds if you would like to join this team.
