Giving

Thank you for your generosity and your faithfulness to this church.
Together, we Share the Joy of Christ.

2027 Stewardship Commitment

At Riverchase, we are grateful to be surrounded by incredibly generous people. This generosity enables our church to serve the needs of our community and share the Joy of Christ far and wide. We pray that you will take time to read this page and prayerfully consider your family’s giving for 2027. Click the button below to complete your Intent of Giving online, or download and print your own commitment cards.

Linked below is also a letter from our Senior Pastor Tyler Christiansen.

We will also have extra commitment cards will also be available around the church.

Ways To Give

There is no gift too big or too small. When we say every dollar counts, it truly does. Every cent equips the Kingdom and we steward church resources to prepare for all God has in store!

Online Giving Has a New Home
Visit Church Center in your browser or in the Church Center app, select Give, and choose a fund. Credit/debit card and ACH bank transfer are both available. ACH takes just a quick bank connection and carries the lowest fee. If you'd like to give on a regular schedule, setting up a recurring gift is super simple and takes just a couple of extra taps, weekly, monthly, etc. and you can change or cancel it anytime. Set it and forget it!

When you give, Operating Budget is already selected. It covers staff, programs, and everything that keeps Riverchase running week to week: salaries, building costs, worship, and the ministries you see and experience every Sunday. It's where your gift goes the furthest, since it touches nearly everything the church does.

Processing Fees
Online giving carries a processing fee, the same as it would for any credit card or bank transaction

  • Credit/debit card: 2.15% + $0.30 per donation
  • ACH bank transfer: $0.30 per transaction

When you give, you'll see an option to cover the processing fee yourself. If you choose not to, the church will cover that cost. It's entirely optional, but if you're able to check that box, it's a small addition that goes a long way, and we'd be grateful for it.

Engage
if you currently give through Engage, you're welcome to cancel that gift and set up its replacement in Church Center on your own. If you'd rather have help, hold tight. We'll be sending separate step-by-step instructions to everyone still set up on Engage. Engage giving will be shut down on October 5th, so if you're able to make the move now, we'd appreciate it.

Need instructions on how to setup giving on Church Center or how to cancel your giving on Engage?

If you have questions, please reach out to finance@riverchaseumc.org.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping us keep Sharing the Joy of Christ with our community.

You can always give to Riverchase by cash or check. We have a time of giving during each service, you can stop by the church office to bring your gift, or you can mail your gift to:

Riverchase United Methodist Church
Attn: Jody Joiner
1953 Old Montgomery Highway
Birmingham, AL 35244

Many banks offer free online bill payment. This can be set up for a one-time gift or a recurring schedule, and it carries no processing fee since it comes directly from your bank rather than through our giving platform. Each bank's setup is a little different, but you can use the mailing address above, along with finance@riverchaseumc.org for the email field if one is requested. If you'd like help setting this up, contact our Financial Administrator, Jody Joiner.

Give from Your IRA (Qualified Charitable Distribution)

If you're 70½ or older, you can give to Riverchase UMC straight from your IRA, and the gift won't count as taxable income. This is called a Qualified Charitable Distribution, or QCD. After you turn 73, a QCD also counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. That makes it one of the simplest and most tax-smart ways to support the ministry of RUMC.

How to set it up

  1. Call your IRA provider (Fidelity, Schwab, Edward Jones, or whoever holds your IRA). Tell them you'd like to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution.
  2. Have the check made payable to the church. Give them:
    1. Payee: Riverchase United Methodist Church
    2. Address: 1953 Old Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, AL 35244
    3. Tax ID (EIN): 63-0906728
  3. Let us know it's coming. Email finance@riverchaseumc.org with your name and the amount. Checks from IRA providers often don't list the donor's name, and we want to make sure you get credit and a receipt.

Consider creating a lasting legacy that will impact lives for generations to come. Through legacy giving opportunities like our Permanent Endowment Fund, you can ensure that your commitment to sharing the joy of Christ continues long into the future. Whether through a simple bequest in your will, charitable gift annuities that provide lifetime income, or other planned giving options, you can support missions, youth ministries, and special projects while often receiving significant tax benefits. Your legacy gift becomes more than a donation—it becomes a testament of faith that keeps giving, creating ministry opportunities beyond what our regular budget allows and blessing future generations with the love of Christ.

Any Questions?

Please reach out to our Financial Administrator Jody Joiner at finance@riverchaseumc.org.

Not sure what your giving options are? Robert Altman, Director of Stewardship, would love to walk you through them and help you find the way to take part that fits you best. Reach Robert at robert@riverchaseumc.org.

Where To Give

We encourage giving to our annual Operating Budget. The Operating Budget supports the overall ministries and functions of RUMC– all things that contribute to carrying out our mission in Sharing the Joy of Christ.

Giving can also be designated to our capital/debt funds for costs outside the day-to-day operations of RUMC. These capital costs relate to "big-ticket" items for our campus & ministries, such as buses, roofs, HVAC, etc.

Supplemental gifts to specific RUMC ministries & missions and RUMC-supported charities are also welcome. Please remember these gifts are outside the church's operating budget.

Operating Budget

Our current Operating Budget is substantial, and has not increased in recent years. The Operating Budget is what pays our staff and pastors, pays our monthly mortgage, heats/cools our buildings, maintains our campus, covers contracts & licenses, and financially supports the many ministries of RUMC.

Building Debt

Giving to our capital fund is encouraged, as we expect to need a new roof and windows in the near future. Additionally, giving to the debt fund would be used to supplement debt payments for the back parking lot, Day School offices, covered walkway, columbarium, and Fine Arts building. Current mortgage payments represent a significant annual expense, with an upcoming balloon payment in the coming years.

What does your generosity support?

In 2024, your generosity supplied over $80,000 in support of local & global missions. This includes $24,000 for local missions, such as Angel Tree, Backpack Ministry, Joy Delivery, Oak Mountain Missions, and Urban Ministry. In addition, over $28,000 was given to LifeGate & United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

Over 40% of our generous giving supports our staff & pastors & 25% supports our campus facility costs. Another 16%, or $450k/year, pays our monthly mortgage.
