Let’s Play Mah Jongg!
Are you interested in learning to play MahJongg? Not Mahjong Solitaire, the matching tile game you find on your phone, but the increasingly popular American version of the ancient tile game that originated in China.
You will learn how to play this fun game of strategy, skill, and luck using the American National Mahjongg League (NMJL) rules. The game is typically played with 4 players using 152 tiles, and the goal is to be the first to match a specific hand from the National Mahjongg League scorecard. You will learn all about the tiles, the different suits, the Winds, the Dragons, and the all-important Jokers.
There is no fee involved with the lesson sessions. Come join us on the first Thursday of each month from 1-3 PM. We meet in the Upper Room each Thursday for open play, and you can join open play after you complete your first lesson. An exception to lessons and open play on the first Thursday of each month is if an observed holiday falls on that day.
