Sharing the Joy of Christ

Disciple

Disciple Bible Study is a series of disciplined Bible studies aimed at developing strong Christian leaders through regular, indepth study of Scripture. It is a unique approach to Bible study, which places emphasis on transformation as well as information. The focus is on the disciple as learner, believer, follower, proclaimer and servant of Jesus Christ. Disciple assumes that the Bible is the key to renewal in the church.

Disciple provides the mutual support and fellowship of small group study, Christian conversation, prayer and preparation for servanthood. It stresses the connectedness between our study of the Scripture and our witness and service in the world around us. Methods used in the weekly class meetings include a workbook, video by distinguished theologians and lively class discussions. Students have weekly assigned readings in the Bible.

The purpose of Disciple may be summarized in the words of Ephesians 4:12 "...to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."

Disciple groups are all apart of Riverchase Academy's curriculum on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM.

Discple I

Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study is a 33 week journey through the biblical story from Genesis to Revelation, which emphasizes the people and events that played a major role in the story of the Bible.  This study helps participants understand how the entire Bibles relates as a whole.

Disciple II

Into the Word Into the World is a 32 week study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke , and Acts. It includes Creation, Covenant and the Exodus, and the story of Jesus through Luke and the early Christian Church.

Disciple III

Remember Who You Are is a 32 week study of the Old Testament prophets and kings, and selected New Testament writings of the Apostle Paul.  This study challenges participants to remember their roots, considering their past and renewing a vision for the future.

Disciple IV

Under the Tree of Life is a 32 week study of the Old Testament writings (Ruth, Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Proverbs, Daniel), the Gospel of John and the Book of Revelation.

Christian Believer

Knowing god with Heart and Mind is for those who want to know more of the central teachings of the Christian faith, who want to explore the connections between doctrine and Scripture and between believing and living, who want to wrestle with some of the questions of belief Christians have wrestled with for the last 2000 years, and who want to be equipped for living faithfully and passing on the faith to others.  It is recommended that participants will have taken at least one other Disciple class or other similar bible study.

Jesus in the Gospels

This 2nd Generation Disciple Study is distinctive from the Disciple series.  Its approach more intensely examines the Gospel accounts and consequently differs in the daily preparation and study required by participants and also in the nature of weekly group discussions.  In this 30 week study, participants will read and study the 4 gospels with supporting scripture from other Old and new Testament passages.  A previous Disciple class or another foundational Bible study is recommended.
